1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner. This immaculate Skyliner was purchased by our owner in 2020 from the previous owner of 28 years. Wonderful example of a labor of love full restoration. Exceptional condition Skyliner in every way. The car left the factory finished in Flame Red and Colonial White (VE) and was repainted as part of a full restoration completed under prior ownership. The power-retractable “Hide-Away Hardtop” was introduced in 1957 and was available for three model years. Additional equipment includes rear tail fins, hooded headlights, a dual exhaust system with chrome exits, and a chrome grille, bumpers, window surrounds, and side moldings. The power-retractable top was serviced was completely gone though and serviced last Summer with work including replacing and rebuilding all switches, motors and actuators. Steel 14 inch wheels wear turbine-style covers reportedly sourced from a 1957 Thunderbird and are mounted with 8 inch section whitewall tires. Braking is handled by unassisted four-wheel drums.The cabin features front and rear bench seats upholstered in white vinyl with red patterned cloth inserts along with a color-coordinated dashboard, carpets, and door panels. Additional equipment includes a heater, manually operated windows, a locking glovebox, vent windows, an analog clock, lap belts for all occupants, and a push-button AM radio. The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges showing fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles. This Fairlane has a replacement 312 c.i. V8 mated to a two-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission and a 3.56:1 standard differential. Car runs and drives excellent, and the power convertible top operates smooth and correctly. One of the nicest examples you will ever find. I purchased the car from the previous owner of 28 years who performed a full frame of restoration during his ownership, finishing it in 2018.
